You see countless posts about ‘higher purpose’ on social media, numerous books have been written on this subject too.
It can be a fascinating topic of discussion.
“What’s your higher purpose in life?”
Now what if I told you, you fulfill your higher purpose in life all the time? like…
When you took time out to help a friend in need.
Or when you contributed time and money you could’ve spent on yourself towards a worthy cause that helped others instead.
Or when you sat with your mother, your father, or your child…to keep them company, sensing they were comforted and happy with your presence.
People will often equate higher purpose with a significant achievement that has to happen in their lives.
But I believe the true measure of our achievements and goals…is how we affect others positively.
Whenever you choose to act with kindness, compassion and love – in ANYTHING
Take courage and feel no fear or doubt Because in that moment you are elevated and fully aligned with your Higher Purpose, and that part of you that makes you shine at your core: Your soul.

I’ll go so far as to state my belief that feeling good is an essential if not the main key to achieving what you want in life – be that security, happiness, love, money, or success.
When you feel good, you magnetise more good things to come your way. Your focus also tends to be more on opportunities, ideas, people, places, and situations that ‘feed’ those good feelings.
This is when you set off a chain reaction – linking one good feeling to the next good feeling, one good idea to the next good idea, and one good opportunity to the next good opportunity, doors and paths seem to open up that didn’t even exist or occur to you before
Until before you know it and as if by sheer luck, the things you desire in life are suddenly before you.
Here’s a formula I use that helps me to feel good every day (or close enough :)).
I ‘reverse-engineer’ my dreams.
I start at the ‘outcome’
I work on being crystal clear on what I want in the future. So clear in fact that the dream even has colour, sounds and yes even smells 😅
… i.e when I dream of working remotely on a beach paradise location? I smell the salt of the ocean, feel the warm breeze, and see the amazingly clear blue of the water reflected by the great blue cloudless sky; I experience every sensation in my dreams.
Then I work my way backwards to where I am now in the present…firstly being grateful for everything I already have…and then thinking of ‘small’ do-able things I can do, to make that dream a reality… and I simply keep doing those things…every-single-day.
They’re small enough that they are absolutely achievable – So it could be simple things like putting up a picture of the beach on my vision board, learning more about the island I want to go to, or speaking to people who already live the kind of lifestyle I want, and learning and applying how they did it.
Anything and everything I do and complete on a daily basis towards that dream?… I count it as a ‘success” for that day, no matter how small the ‘win.
This is how I nurture and maintain a mindset of feeling good, being optimistic and ‘certain’ that I’m on my way towards living that dream someday very soon.

There’s a film I watched recently called “Door to Door” and I want to recommend it to you for a number of reasons.
Firstly the acting is really, really good. The film is also based on the true story of a man called Bill Porter.
Bill Porter was an American Door to Door salesman in the 1950s based in Portland Oregon. As a very young man, he experienced lots of rejections when applying to various sales companies who refused to hire him.
Eventually, he managed to persuade the manager of one company (Watkins Inc.) to give him a chance…but only by giving him the toughest sales territory that none of the company’s salespeople would touch!
I don’t want to spoil it for you by giving too much away – but the film follows Bill’s journey, his hardships, and the rejections he faced as he did his best to follow through on his decision to follow his chosen path. His dream was to make his first sale and be successful as a salesman.
What’s so exceptional about Bill you might ask?
Bill Porter had Cerebral Palsy.
He walked with a limp, had the use of only one arm and his speech was slurred to the point of being incomprehensible.
Not exactly the best start for a career in door-to-door sales.
His resolve was tested (to the limit) he battled everything rain, cold and probably most painful of all rejection and rudeness from people who were offensive and mean to him.
The movie has a beautiful flow and provides an emotional roller coaster ride following the story of a man who struggled to overcome odds most of us will never have to face, with dignity and courage that is admirable and worth emulating.
If this isn’t enough to encourage you to watch the film – the acting is extraordinary with William Macy as Bill Porter who also won an Emmy for his performance.
This film is such a precious rare gem that most people don’t know about – but such a treasure when you discover it. It’s only 1:30 min so not very long…perfect as a film over the weekend.
And if you’re in sales or have a sales-related job? this’ll definitely be perfect for you.
But even if you’re not in a sale job, this will still be very meaningful. In fact, it’s relevant to ANYBODY who’s job involves interacting with people in any way shape or form.
The film draws our attention to what we often forget in life and business – that although our jobs exist to help us make money, business isn’t just about money…it should be a harmony of being about people, relationships and trust…where we exchange things of value with each other: to help each other.
That’s what business is about – and if it isn’t? That’s what it should be about.
So anyway check it out. I hope you’re uplifted and inspired by it as much as I was.
Here’s a link to the film on YouTube (hopefully it’s still up there). If it is…you should be able to watch it for Free : )
